Dreamback is really akin to imagination land.

Dreamback Backstory:

DREAMBACK – is a place where all of Bearlago’s bears’ dreams show up. All around Dreamback there’s ‘marsh mallows’ that look like white round marshmallows in marshes, where each ‘mallow’ is a different intertwined memory and dream of a bear known as a ‘dream mallow’. The bears can look into the ‘mallow’ but you don’t know which mallow belongs to which bear, and you only get to see a small, interesting part of a bears dream. The bears hope to figure out which dream mallows are Meeso’s, by looking out for something familiar that happens in a dream mallow they find and decipher code. This could tell them where Meeso was before or might be now. It’s not easy to find ‘dream mallows’ though. They turn up and disappear quickly as Dreamback is an island that is like a cloud which is always changing shape. Sometimes some marsh mallows are hidden as the tide covers them, but when the bears find a mallow they can open it and a glimpse/snippet of the dream is displayed in the air like a cloud for them to see (the bears can only see fragments of a dream and to see more they need to earn more popcoin or increase their skills to gain more clues). The bears have to be careful not to get a ‘maerd mallow’, which are dream mallows where dreams either go backwards, are opposite to reality or get mixed up with reality, or are just mirages where they think they see Meeso but don’t. Maerd’s are planted by Dr Grizz and are dreams of manipulated bears who are trying to stop the bears from getting to the labearatory, although the bears don’t know that yet. There’s also ‘The State of Dreams’ which is a more secure place on Dreamback where some of the best dream ideas are kept. This area is not free to enter though but Oinky really wants to enter here to get inspiration for his ‘popcorn dream experiments’, which Oinky needs to do to work out the best formula for creating a popcorn that can send the grizzly bear guards of Darkwood to sleep. Oinky must earn popcoins to open up special dreams for inspiration and to get resources to work on his formula. Oinky doesn’t always get it right though and has created some very interesting and strange popcorn along the way, one of which turns into a happy accident as he develops a ‘future popcorn’ which when eaten gives you a small glimpse/clip of a future event through some bears eye view, but you don’t know who’s eyes are seeing it which makes it a mystery, but these future ‘glimpses’ can also help the bears find clues of where to find Meeso. Dreamback also has some other uses which attracts visitors. Bear artists visit dream island to get inspired, and there’s also a special ‘Riddle Rock’ on the island (that was originally from Unknownland) that the bears have to say successfully to gain another clue, which is a tongue twister – dreamglass, dreamgrass, dreamglass, dreamgrass. Bears also visit hear to recapture their favourite dreams, so Eski could get distracted by ‘hunneyy’ dreams and Oinky ‘popcorn’ ones etc. There’s also ‘wish balloons’ where you can write down a wish and put it into a balloon and send it into the sky. Dream mallows help inspire ideas. They either tell the bears about a memory or help give the bears ideas for inventions. Some dream mallow inspired inventions include ‘the cub cart float that can be a car one way, and then the wheels can be turned to their side and made into a floating raft’, and the ‘smart bear glasses that translate instantly so bears can read other island information that might be a local dialect’. Oinky becomes a budding inventor on Dreamback with his popcorn experiments. Pensa gives Quteso some ‘hover shoes’ (for her and Oinky) to make it easy to get around Dreamback. (later on as Dreamback becomes known it considers the creation of a cloudport so bears can go between worlds, now they know different bear worlds exist after the real world adventure). On Dreamback there could be a ‘cloudport’ which is Bearlago’s version of an airport. The planes look like marshmallow clouds themselves, but once it goes into the cloud it turns into a real plane. Planes go into the air not knowing where they are going and then head into one random cloud and disappear with the cloud to their fated destination (unknown islands) instantly. At the moment the planes are just dreams, but they will become real later. The cloud port is not open yet, but it might become a main source of the bears’ second journey after finding Meeso. Dreamback will have a Visarium too for when they return (through the ‘Bearhole’ – like wormhole).Dreamback is well protected from Darkwood, and it’s really cold, rocky, and changing tides around its perimeter, making it very hard to get into, unless you have a freezeporter, like Pensa, or find the secret tunnel like Oinky. Then when inside the Dreamback atmosphere everything changes and it’s warm and things float in relaxed clouds, as it’s really inside a big protected bubble – which Pensa invented. Dreamback is also the place where some random word plays get picked up by the mallows dotted around The Bearlagos. We learn that Pensa originally tried to ensure that Dr Grizz didn’t steal or take over many years before, and with Padeski he put inventions and security together to make random recordings and tracking of words spoken around the island.
