About Jungleton
A tribal place for the old survivalist bears who know the ways of real bears.
Jungleton is a beautiful, very mountainous jungle landscape like something out of Bearassic Park (one of the most popular bear movies). It’s also a very spiritual place that is inhabited mostly by the Old Bair tribes who moved there after ‘The Event’ from Bair. There are a few native Jungleton inhabitants left from before that too, but Jungleton was mostly an uncharted jungle before that and was home to a few special animals including the Bongo. This is a mystical animal only found on Jungleton that is worshiped by the Old Bair tribes.
Bear Oven, who wears a Bongo bandana to bring him good luck, is one of the few inhabitants who has lived around the jungle-ways of Jungleton all his life since his father was from here (his father was a legend who apparently caught the real grizzlies on display in Jungleton). He is an expert survivalist who trains heavily domesticated teddy bears of The Bearlagos ‘bear survival skills’ and set up a special program between the Beareum (set up by his old friend Gom Bam Boo) and his habitat Jungleton called ‘Be A Real Bear – Beareal’, which helps bears learn about the ways of real grizzly bears and their traits, and about survival and life acts in general.
Bear Oven knows that today’s bears aren’t the same as in the past so has made the training fun, interactive, yet challenging. Therefore, he created the ‘Ventoro’ – which is a fun adventure simulator where bears get to feel like they are in an adventure challenge simulation, like Jumanji, and learn adventurer skills in the simulations before having to be put in real situations. In the program, there’s a ‘Bear Hug Tree’ (to get the bears to be stronger), ‘Tribal Drumming’ (where bears learn the rituals of the Old Bairs tribal ceremonies to prepare them for battles), the ‘Bearave’ (where bears dance out and let go of their domesticated ways and find the real bear in them), the ‘Jungleton Training Cave-Maze’ (which the bears must navigate whilst trying to get around other obstacles as they become more hands-on and practical like real bears), ‘The Water Tornado’ (which is a white-water rafting waterfall bravery challenge), plus more.
To get to Jungleton is an obstacle in itself as bears need to cross the ‘Jungleton Bearidge’ – a special drawbridge joining Bearington & Jungleton. Jungleton also has a few ‘echo trees’ which give out sound waves that sound like messages. Maybe Meeso was here? Probably not, as you’d be sure Bear Oven would know exactly who and what is on his island. He’s very sharp, which is why our Bearventurers visit Bear Oven on Jungleton for much-needed training to help find their friend Meeso. During training, bears can collect ‘endurance’ skills, which will come in handy when they have other challenges they may face along their epic journey (or when having to listen to Joe King in Slowth ha).
FUN FACT: Say ‘Jungleton, Jungleton, Jungleton’ three times, and a tribal drum dance starts up.
Jungleton Backstory:
Jungleton is one of the oldest islands that survived well through ‘The Event’, although one or two grizzlies on the island disappeared on the island not to be seen again, which worried some inhabitants about being there. Not the Old Bairs though. They are more hardened and they moved from their lost Bair to Jungleton with relative ease, as Bear Oven and co. welcomed their survivalist ways of living off the land. Although, they did fear for the island’s special, mystical animal, The Bongo, after some grizzlies went missing. So, when they rarely still spot a Bongo it gives them hope of survival. If the Bongo’s can survive then so can they. The Bongo become synonymous with bravery, hope, and life to the tribes, so when they do see one they start playing tribal drum songs in order to promote positive energy and belief that something good will happen to the tribes who live there.
What the Old Bair tribes don’t know is that the few grizzlies who ‘escaped’ during ‘The Event’ were actually taken by Dr. Grizz and his henchmen who used the chaos on Bair as a distraction to sneak in and take a few grizzlies which they had heard existed, in order to feed Dr. Grizz’s ambition of taking over The Bearlagos and work out how to get to the real world he is convinced exists and craves so badly.
Bear Oven’s father was one of the oldest inhabitants of Jungleton, and was a legend in The Bearlagos of being the one who father captured a few ‘real grizzlies’ from ‘the real world’. He is no longer around now to tell the tale but the grizzlies are proof that more exists beyond The Bearlagos, and domesticated Bearlago residents come to Jungleton to see its main attraction, the real grizzlies, who are kept in protected areas for the safety of the residents and the grizzlies. It’s the closest thing the residents get to a zoo, and it is now run, alongside the survivalist training center, by Bear Oven, the son of his legendary father who had the same name.
Bear Oven hasn’t been to the real world himself, but he has a lot of knowledge and stories passed down from his father than Dr. Grizz would most likely love to get his hands on, but Bear Oven, himself also a great adventurer, is too sharp for Dr. Grizz to catch and he advocates that to his ‘real bear’ training. Bear Oven has long suspected Dr. Grizz of many wrongdoings in The Bearlagos and is convinced that Dr. Grizz stole a few of his grizzlies, and when The Bearventurers come to him for help he is more than happy to help.
